Sanders, facing billionaire donors snub, says ‘Billionaires shouldn’t exist’

Take that, billionaires.

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, telling supporters that the rich are ignoring his campaign, has declared his latest populist slogan, “Billionaires should not exist.”

The latest Sanders bumper sticker.

In a fundraising email, the campaign of the avowed enemy of Wall Street wrote, “Not a single billionaire has donated to our campaign.”

Then, he offered small change donors a bumper sticker declaring, “Billionaires should not exist.” Last month, he rolled out his line in a newspaper interview. In his prior 2016 campaign, he refused donations from billionaires.

In fact, he has declared war on millionaires too, proposing an 8% tax to fund his promises of education and healthcare. The so-called wealth tax would start at 1% for net worth above $32 million, rising to 8% on wealth over $10 billion.

Sanders, who with his wife made $1.2 million in 2017, is asking for an average donation of $9.

Here is the full note:

We’ve got a new sticker, and you’re going to like it.

Not a single billionaire has donated to our campaign. That’s because our political revolution is powered by the working class. And when we’re in the White House, we’re going to pass a wealth tax that will finally make the billionaire class pay their fair share.

So here’s a sticker to help show your support for Bernie and to help us win this election.

Donate any amount of money that you think is fair to Bernie 2020 and we’ll send you this “Billionaires Should Not Exist” sticker.

We’re only going to offer this sticker for a few days, so act fast. Most people chip in about $9.

In solidarity,

Team Bernie
