Changing voices: Former CNN correspondent says media must keep up

At the tender age of 12, former CNN correspondent Frank Sesno started his career in broadcast journalism at the Voice of America.

“We would literally cut and paste dialogue. I would have scissors and tape,” Sesno said at the 50th anniversary of VOA’s Special English Program Monday.

Sesno, who says he’s proud of his humble beginnings, pressed on the media’s technological makeover and how to keep up with the redefining industry.

“The audience has changed. [The media] needs to think globally and connect locally,” he continued. “Information has changed, and the VOA has changed with it.”
