Some of President Trump’s closest advisers are reportedly debating whether to release the transcript of a call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Members of the White House counsel’s office have been mulling a number of options to stop any potential legal battle. One of those options includes releasing the full transcript or one with redactions, according to ABC News.
The call has been the center of a whistleblower complaint with the intelligence community inspector general. It is alleged that Trump urged Zelensky multiple times to work with his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani to investigate Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and his ties to an energy company owned by a Ukrainian oligarch.
House Democrats and the elder Biden have called for a release of the complaint and transcript of the call in question, although acting Director of National Security Joseph Maguire has rebuffed those overtures.
Trump has denied any wrongdoing, and described his July 25 conversation with Zelensky as “perfectly fine.”
