On this day, Nov. 9, in 1998, Grammy-winning musician Billy Preston, sometimes referred to as the unofficial fifth Beatle, was indicted in Los Angeles for fraudulent insurance claims.

Preston, a keyboard prodigy, played with Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin and the Rolling Stones before banging out his own hits like “Nothing From Nothing” and “Will It Go Round in Circles.”
