Former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders joined the growing crowd of conservative voices blasting former President Barack Obama for his policy toward Iran in the wake of recent U.S. tensions in the Middle East.
“Unlike his predecessor, President @realDonaldTrump will not tolerate or give cash to the Iranians while they kill Americans,” Sanders tweeted Wednesday morning.

Sanders, now a Fox News pundit, shared a link to a Washington Post article about Nawres Hamid, a U.S. citizen and military contractor who was killed in an attack by an Iranian-backed militia late last year.
President Trump and his defenders have pointed to Hamid’s case as an example of Iran’s blatant sponsorship of terror in the region that puts American lives at risk. The last three presidential administrations have designated the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization.
Trump last week ordered the killing of the guard’s top general, Qassem Soleimani, based on intelligence that showed Soleimani posed an “imminent threat” to American assets in the region.
Congressional Republicans have said the move was long overdue.
“The way to deal with threats like that is not through weakness, but through strength, and we saw that in taking out Soleimani this past week,” Sen. Ted Cruz said.
