Reisterstown woman sentenced for arson

A U.S. District judge in Baltimore on Tuesday sentenced Michele Heckner, 40, of Reisterstown, to five years in prison for setting fire to Lady Baltimore Flooring in Finksburg, where she was employed, on May 31, 2005.

Heckner also was ordered to pay nearly $400,000 in restitution.

Heckner also attempted to blow up propane tanks near the outside wall of the building, according to court documents. An accelerant, similar to kerosene or lighter fluid, was found inside the building; acetone, a flammable liquid, was found outside at the base of the propane tanks. The property sustained damages in excess of $400,000, prosecutors said.
