Mayor of nation’s capital shocks: ‘This is a BFD’

A plan to have Washington, D.C. taxpayers pay for 90 percent of a sports complex “is a BFD,” the mayor of the nation’s capital said.

Mayor Muriel Bowser used the shocking phrase in describing her bid to build a facility to be used by the NBA’s Wizards and Mystics, the women’s professional basketball team, on the former site of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

Those covering the event likened her comment to Vice President Joe Biden’s off-mic comment to President Obama about the passage of Obamacare. He used the words, not the acronym.

“‘This is a BFD,’ Bowser declared, taking a cue from Joe Biden,” said Washington’s City Paper.
