NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a 12-year-old girl has died after a stolen minivan hopped a curb in Brooklyn and struck her and two other people walking on the sidewalk.
A 9-year-old girl and a 38-year-old woman remain in critical condition at Kings County Hospital after the crash around 4:45 p.m., Wednesday in the borough’s Flatlands neighborhood.
Police identified the 12-year-old as Joey Sellers. They didn’t name the others.
They say the 2005 Dodge Caravan had been reported stolen Friday in another part of Brooklyn. They say a preliminary investigation shows the driver lost control and jumped the curb.
Officers found the two girls and woman on the ground with severe body trauma.
The driver fled the scene on foot and hasn’t been found.
Police say he was last seen on Schenectady Avenue.
