New Walker ad: Hillary Clinton ‘invented the lie’ about Obamacare

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker published a digital ad claiming Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton “invented the lie” about Obamacare that President Obama made famous: If you like your doctor or healthcare plan, you can keep it.

Walker unveiled his plan to repeal and replace Obamacare on the stump in Minnesota earlier this week, and has largely sold it as a solution to congressional Republicans’ failure to gut the president’s signature healthcare legislation. His plan frames Walker’s solution as an alternative to Clinton’s positions on healthcare, and the digital ad follows the same framework as his written plan.

The ad juxtaposes the voices of Clinton and Obama on healthcare, and shows font on screen reading “Hillary Clinton loves Obamacare,” in an attempt to tie Clinton to the president’s healthcare policies. The ad uses a rotated version of Clinton campaign logo, an ‘H’ with an arrow, pointing down to express the Walker campaign’s displeasure with Obama’s healthcare policy.

“A lot of candidates talk about repealing Obamacare, we’ve actually got a plan to make sure Congress acts,” Walker can be seen saying. “If you want to make sure that truly needy people get the care that they need you need to send that power and responsibility back to the states where states can be more innovative and they’re more likely to get the job done.”

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Walker’s campaign have verbally sparred about their healthcare policy proposals in the press this week. The ad makes no mention of the back-and-forth, but asks, “Who will win the fight to repeal and replace Obamacare?” before showing the text of remarks made by conservatives praising Walker’s plan.
