Oscar Velasco Montano disappeared from Tysons Corner last July. Five months later, police said they were considering his disappearance “suspicious.”
More than a year later, Montano still hasn’t been found.
Montano, a Springfield resident, worked on the 1800 block of International Drive in Tysons Corner, and was last seen there on July 9, 2011. He was 29 when he disappeared, and police believe he’s not voluntarily missing, according to data from the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.
At the time Montano disappeared, he drove a green 1997 Plymouth Voyager — which was later found behind an Olive Garden restaurant in Tysons Corner.
A Facebook group created to help search for him called Montano “a very consistent young man” who regularly kept in touch with his family.
Last December, Fairfax County police said they’d uncovered new developments in Montano’s case that led them to suspect that he didn’t leave on his own, but added they didn’t believe he had been involved in any illegal activities. Police didn’t specify what those new developments were, however.
Montano is Latino and has black hair and brown eyes. He’s now 30 years old and stands about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. Anyone with any information about the case should call Fairfax County police at 703-246-7526.
