The armed suspect arrested at President Donald Trump’s California golf club on Sunday had posted bail in an ongoing case from last year, officials said Wednesday morning.

Jeanine John Taele was detained on gun and robbery charges in Los Angeles in 2025 and granted $250,000 bail, according to statements from the Justice Department and FBI that did not elaborate on the case. He now faces federal charges after local sheriff’s deputies allegedly caught him snooping around Trump National Golf Club with weaponry ahead of the president’s Tuesday visit for a Republican National Committee dinner.
