A former Catholic high school teacher has been arrested for exchanging pornographic photos with an underage female student.

Anne Arundel County police received a complaint from the Archdiocese of Baltimore in July that 40-year-old Brian Funk, a former girls’ track coach at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, had taken a student to a movie and that there might be a possible relationship between Funk and the girl.

Funk was named the school’s coach of the year for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Police determined that Funk and the juvenile had exchanged sexually explicity images using their cell phones.

Funk turned himself in to police Sunday and was charged with one county of possession of child pornagraphy and one count of displaying an obscene item to a minor.
