Liberal Democrats jump on Donald Trump Jr. scandal

Two House Democrats jumped on a new New York Times report showing Donald Trump Jr. took a meeting with a Russian lawyer with connections to the Kremlin after being promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton.

The eldest Trump son told the Times he took the meeting at the request of an acquaintance and was under the impression he would be hearing some compromising information about Clinton at the meeting. Instead, he was told some vague rumors about Clinton working with the Russian government and the lawyer then began talking about the adoption of Russian children by Americans.

That was red meat to House liberal Reps. Eric Swalwell and Ted Lieu, both of California.

“Working with a foreign adversary to beat your opponent? If true, this is a betrayal of our country we have never seen before in politics,” Swalwell said in a tweet.

Lieu jumped on the fact that Trump, Jr. didn’t tell the Times the complete truth on Saturday when he was asked about the meeting.

At that time, the head of the Trump Organization only said the meeting was about adoption and never mentioned the offer of compromising Clinton information.

“Donald Trump Jr. did not tell the whole truth on Saturday. That’s called CONSCIOUSNESS OF GUILT. He had to revise his statement on Sunday,” Lieu said on Twitter.
