Two masked men tried to rob a man on the National Mall not far from the cherry blossom trees, police said.

Around 5:15 p.m Monday ,a man was walking in the Ripley Garden between the Smithsonian’s Arts and Industries building and the Hirshhorn musuem when two men approached him and shoved him to the ground, said Sgt. David Schlosser of the U.s. Park Police. The men rifled through the victim’s pockets but didn’t find anything, he said. The man was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

The suspects, two black men wearing dark clothing, were last seen walking west on Independence Avenue.
