Former President Barack Obama will head to Georgia next week to rally voters one more time for Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock, who is locked in a tight runoff race against Republican rival Herschel Walker.
The popular president will be in Georgia on Dec. 1, the eve of the final day of early in-person voting.
Both parties are pulling out the big guns for their candidates in a race that will determine whether Democrats will have a two-seat edge in the Senate.
RAPHAEL WARNOCK USES FAITH AS GUIDING PRINCIPLE IN PERSONAL LIFE AND POLITICS
Neither Walker nor Warnock had enough votes for an outright victory in the general election, which forced them into a Dec. 6 runoff. Warnock beat Walker by about 35,000 votes, with Warnock receiving 49.4% of the vote, Walker 48.5%, and Libertarian Chase Oliver 2.1%.
Almost immediately after a runoff was declared, both parties began funneling in more money for a new round of attack ads to blanket the airwaves, as well as money for field operations.
Walker’s campaign has been dogged by allegations he paid for multiple abortions and has lied about domestic abuse allegations, his education, and ties to law enforcement. Warnock has labeled Walker a “pathological liar” who is unfit to serve in public office.
“This is a man who lies about the most basic facts of his life,” Warnock said in the days leading up to the Nov. 8 general election.
Despite the allegations, which Walker has denied, high-profile Republicans have been flocking to the state to stump for the Georgia football star.
On Monday, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), former Sen. Kelly Loeffler, and Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel are scheduled to join Walker at an “Evict Warnock” bus stop in Milton, Georgia, around 4:30 p.m.
Warnock beat Loeffler in a special election in 2021 for Sen. Johnny Isakson’s seat, becoming Georgia’s first black senator.

Walker has focused most of his campaign trying to tie Warnock to President Joe Biden’s unpopular policies and has claimed a vote for Warnock is a vote for Biden.
It is unclear if Biden will stump for Warnock in the final days leading up to the runoff.
