MontCo to assess Pepco’s storm performance July 19

Montgomery County officials will meet July 19 to review Pepco’s performance in the aftermath of Friday’s storms, County Council President Roger Berliner announced Tuesday.

Maryland Public Service Commission Chairman Doug Nazarian will discuss be at the meeting to explain how the state utility regulator plans to assess Pepco’s efforts to restore power to the hundreds of thousands of customers in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties and the District.

On Tuesday, four days after the storm, more than 100 traffic signals were still dark in Montgomery County and 100,000 Pepco customers still had no power, according to a county statement.

“Our residents are understandably very frustrated by how long it is taking to have their power turned back on,” Berliner said.
