A man was assaulted in a California restaurant bathroom after the attacker asked about his “Make America Great Again” hat.
The attack took place last month on Sept. 2, and police arrested David Delgado, 32, on Tuesday in connection with the crime, according to the Hermosa Beach Police Department.
The victim was using the restroom when Delgado allegedly walked in and asked him about his hat. The victim was wearing a red hat with white, Russian lettering that translated to “Make America Great Again.”
After the victim answered, Delgado allegedly knocked the victim down and repeatedly punched him in the face before stealing the hat and fleeing the bathroom. Police used “investigative resources and surveillance footage” to track Delgado to his home where he was arrested without incident.
