Tucker Carlson’s anti-Israel obsession has become dangerous

I never thought I’d be the person writing about how dangerous Tucker Carlson has become. I run a Substack called “Free Thinking Through the Fourth Turning,” after all. I care deeply about free speech and oppose censorship. Yet I find myself horrified at what we’ve built.

With a newly freed X, thanks to Elon Musk, a backlash against the Left’s decadelong attempt to subvert the First Amendment through internet policing and cancel culture, and a rising independent media with few checks on its power, we are truly putting the First Amendment to the test.

I never thought that 80 years after the Holocaust, whole generations would have no real memory of what genuine genocide or total war looks like. They think the brutal war in Gaza is on par with the Nazis and Adolf Hitler — and no one says it louder or more often than Carlson.

I was a big fan back in 2020 when I stumbled out of the insular bubble on the Left and discovered a whole new world of free thought on the Right, where people could say things no one would dare utter on the Left. Only Carlson would talk plainly and truthfully about what we could all see unfolding on the streets of America. His nightly monologues on Fox were the highest-rated for a reason. The writing and delivery were unmatched, and I was hooked.

So much so that when Fox abruptly fired him, I dedicated a good portion of my time and my Substack to posting every video he put out as he built his platform on X, YouTube, and Rumble.

He hardly needed help from a nobody like me. But my readers came to count on it — when they weren’t unsubscribing out of hatred and disgust for him.

That Carlson has roughly 1 million followers on Rumble, with far larger audiences on X and YouTube, around 5.7 million subscribers, tells us a lot about his international reach.

He is amplified and boosted by a growing Muslim audience who turn to him to have their hatred of Israel and their paranoid delusions confirmed.

Like so many podcasters and influencers, Carlson is a victim of the worst kind of audience capture. He seems transfixed by the god-like image bestowed upon him by Jew haters worldwide — a growing coalition of ignorant Gen Zers, white supremacists, and Muslims. He isn’t alone. Other high-profile podcasters and influencers are leaning in the same direction, with many of them using the murder of Charlie Kirk to drive hatred against Israel. It is so absurd it hardly feels real.

Carlson is not dangerous because he is dividing the Republican Party or attacking Trump. He is dangerous because he is lying to his audience about history.

Here are just some of his recent quotes.

“Destroying Europe has always been Israel’s goal.”

“I’m not aware of a single Nazi official who was as openly bloodthirsty as [Itamir] Ben-Gvir, including [Joseph] Goebbels, who was a nutcase in my opinion.”

“The Israeli goal is chaos, is dysfunction, is an open, suppurating wound that lasts for generations. The real goal is Syria, or Libya, or Iraq, or Somalia. The real goal is destruction for its own sake. Any potential rival to your power is so consumed with a tribal ethnic conflict in his own country that he has no ability to resist your territorial expansion.”

He also seems addicted to the dopamine hit of raw power: counting the millions of views, the praise, the worship, the attention. But as with real drugs, the high doesn’t last, so you need more and more of it.

That is how we arrived here, with Carlson sounding a lot like Hitler in the 1920s — only swapping out “Jew” and “Worldwide Jewry” for “Zionist” and “Israel.” The end result is the same. Fair criticism of Israel isn’t enough to juice the machine. For that, as Hitler well knew, you have to push the red button — and Carlson, by now, is addicted to it.

If it’s true that better speech defeats bad speech, then we need people to get much louder and drown out Carlson’s ridiculous lies. I can’t claim to be that louder voice. I don’t have that kind of power.  But I can set the record straight on the Nazis.

Are you listening, Tucker? Have a seat and take notes.

Heinrich Himmler bragged about mass murder, saying, “Most of you here know what it means when 100 corpses lie together, when 500 lie there or when 1,000 lie there. … This is a glorious page in our history that has never been written and never will be.”

Himmler oversaw the T-4 euthanasia program that gassed or starved to death thousands of mentally and physically disabled people, including children, and deliberately emptied out whole communities so that “the avengers of our sons and grandsons” could not grow up.

Friedrich Jeckeln’s mass murder of over 100,000 Jews, counted among his achievements, included the murder of 33,000 in Babi Yar and 25,000 in Rumbula Forest in just two days. They would be ordered to lie on the bodies in mass graves, then shot with a single bullet to save ammo.

Oskar Dirlewanger, a convicted child rapist-turned-SS commander, was openly sadistic, burning villages, raping women and children, injecting Jewish girls with strychnine, then watching their agonizing deaths as entertainment. During the Warsaw Uprising, his men impaled babies on bayonets, set hospitals ablaze with patients inside, and murdered up to 30,000 civilians in the Wola district alone in a drunken frenzy of torture and killing.

Reinhard Heydrich, the “Blond Beast” and chief architect of the Final Solution, unleashed mobile death squads murdering millions of Jews before he was assassinated.

These men, along with Hitler and countless others, took sadistic pleasure in ridding the planet of Jews. That is what genocide looks like. No Israeli leader or soldier comes close to that level of depravity. The comparison isn’t just wrong — it trivializes the unique evil of the Nazis.

The Right has adopted the same methods as the Left for misappropriating important words. The Left obliterated all meaning for words such as “racist,” “rapist,” “dictator,” and “king.” Trump was called Hitler for 10 long years, and his supporters were called Nazis. Right now, Israel is Hitler, and the Israeli military, and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, are the Nazis. Both sides routinely distort and blunt the word “genocide.”

World War II left Berlin and Nuremberg flattened, with 6 million Jews murdered and some 70 million-80 million dead overall. Genocide is not war. It is the deliberate slaughter of people for who they are or what they believe, such as the genocide in Africa against Christians.

Hamas started the war on Oct. 7, 2023. No one fights a war to lose. That is not genocide. The distortion of words has led to the kinds of lies that ensure the same thing can and will happen again.

I am half-Jewish on my father’s side, but as I like to joke, I’m Jewish enough for the camps. I didn’t think much about Israel’s fate before. I didn’t call myself a Zionist — not because I refused to or sympathized with the Palestinian cause, but because I never took a side and preferred to remain neutral until I fully understood the history. That’s my fault for turning a blind eye for too long.

Now, I fear it’s too late. There is a real threat facing the Western world, and it isn’t Israel. It’s Islam. We’ve arrived in 2026 with a perfect storm of white saviorism on the Left and rising white nationalism on the Right, and a content machine that rewards the most extreme takes.

Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah have played the long game. Mass migration, relentless terrorism, and a sophisticated hearts-and-minds campaign that uses Western voices such as Carlson to spread their message are just the tip of the iceberg. My daughter told me in 2017 that she was too afraid to praise the film Wonder Woman online because Gal Gadot is Israeli. That’s how deep this goes.

By the time the world finally wakes up, it may already be too late.

Hitler beheaded students for distributing anti-war flyers. Iran has slaughtered tens of thousands of protesters over the years simply for daring to stand against the regime, and they would do it again in a heartbeat.

WHERE DID THE ANTISEMITIC SURGE ON THE RIGHT COME FROM?

All I keep thinking is that if Winston Churchill were here, he would instantly recognize the real threat. He would not pander for clicks and views. His greatest gift was that he didn’t care if people liked him or not. That is why he could see what no one else could.

But instead, we have useful idiots who are too ignorant of history and addicted to clicks and views to notice the looming apocalypse.
