Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. Brendan Boyle revealed that one of his district offices had been broken into during the George Floyd protests.
Boyle represents the state’s 2nd District, which includes a large portion of Philadelphia. He said that his office was looted on Monday night and that the police are investigating the incident.
“Just learned one of my district offices has been broken into and is currently being looted. We have notified the authorities,” Boyle tweeted. “If those who are currently breaking into and looting my office really want our voter registration forms because they’re in such high demand, then I would be totally cool with that.”

Philadelphia is one of more than a dozen U.S. cities that have experienced both violent and peaceful protests over the last week. The protests arose after George Floyd, a black man, died in police custody after being accused of using a forged $20.
The arresting officer, who is white, used his knee to apply pressure to Floyd’s neck to keep him pinned down. He held the unarmed man in that position for about nine minutes until Floyd was unresponsive, and Floyd was pronounced dead shortly after. Derek Chauvin was taken into custody on Friday and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, while other officers present have been fired but have not been charged.
An independent autopsy revealed that Floyd’s death was “homicide caused by asphyxia due to neck and back compression that led to a lack of blood flow to the brain,” according to a statement from the family’s lawyer. The judgment contradicted the Hennepin County medical examiner’s preliminary findings, which the Floyd family rejected. The medical examiner later ruled Floyd’s death a homicide caused by a heart attack.
