You gotta figure it’s a bad sign when a couple is engaged for three years, but never starts planning a wedding. Factor in rumblings of trouble with his family, and we weren’t the least bit surprised that “Desperate Housewives” Nicollette Sheridan and formerly mulleted crooner Michael Bolton ended their engagement. (Cue the “Guess she wasn’t desperate to be a housewife” jokes.)

A rep for the actress announced to People that the betrothal was dissolved “amicably,” adding the obligatory “They appreciate your respect for their privacy in this matter.” (We always find that amusing in a news release from a publicist.)
