Police have apprehended a man wanted on kidnapping and sex offenses charges in North Carolina after he escaped from a Maryland jail a few days after he was arrested in Glen Burnie.
Bonrick Barksdale escaped from custody while he was held an Anne Arundel County District Court holding cell after a Thursday court hearing, Anne Arundel County police said. Police said he overtook a guard and forced the guard to open at least two doors.
After a manhunt Thursday afternoon and evening, Barksdale was apprehended shortly before midnight in the Admiral Heights area of Annapolis, police said.
Barksdale was arrested at the Park Plaza Hotel in Glen Burnie on a fugitive warrant on Aug. 26. He was wanted in North Carolina on charges that include kidnapping, attempted first-degree rape, first-degree sex offense and robbery.
Police said he also tried to escape after a previous hearing, on Aug. 27. He tried to flee afer the hearing, but was caught and charged with escape.
