RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A consumer outreach program will air three television public service announcements encouraging Virginians to save energy.

The initiative was announced by Virginia Energy Sense, which is operated by the State Corporation Commission. The General Assembly created the program to support the state’s goal of reducing energy consumption by 10 percent.

The TV spots encourage consumers to take easy, low-cost steps to save energy. They also promote a new online Home Energy Test, which allows homeowners to evaluate their home’s energy use and learn ways they can cut back.

The announcements will air through the summer in all seven of Virginia’s media markets.
