Trump: New York Times writing ‘total fiction,’ ‘making up stories’ about administration

President Trump is accusing the New York Times of inventing stories and sources to make him look bad in stories.

“The failing @nytimes writes total fiction concerning me. They have gotten it wrong for two years, and now are making up stories & sources!” Trump tweeted Monday morning.

The tweet comes the morning after the Times printed a scathing story on Trump’s White House dealings and the inner workings of his administration.

The story included details like Trump often watching TV alone in his bathrobe after he stops working for the day at 6:30 p.m. and his White House staff not being able to figure out how to turn on the lights in West Wing offices.

It also said Trump was angry over an executive order appointing Stephen Bannon, his top strategist, to the National Security Council. According to the story, Trump didn’t read the executive order and wasn’t fully briefed on what it said.

The Times also reported Trump spends time focusing on how he wants the White House decorated but can’t devote time to digesting policy.
