RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia Department of Forestry workers are helping to fight wildfires in four western states.

The agency said Thursday that an eight-person wildland firefighting crew went to Idaho this week. They will help fight a wildfire that has burned more than 68,000 acres.

Other employees were sent earlier to Arizona, California and Nevada.

The Virginia crews’ duties range from working with a wildfire hand crew in mountainous terrain to serving as a dispatcher at a mobile command post.
