Triple threat: California man arrested three times in 16 hours

He’s once, twice, three times a detainee.

James Langdon, a 47-year-old man from Los Angeles, California, was apprehended by police three times on Sunday on what appear to be three unrelated charges, including obstruction, trespassing, burglary, and felony vandalism, according to a Thursday press release from the Glendale Police Department.

Glendale police said that at approximately 3 a.m. local time, Langdon paced in a parking lot before running across a crosswalk. Upon police attempting to stop Langdon, he ran away, at which point officers pursued Langdon on foot, caught up to him, and detained him after a brief struggle, the release said. The man requested medical aid and was transported to the hospital before being issued a court notice, officials added.

Six hours later, police responded to a business calling about a man trespassing in a store. The officers located Langdon, whom employees said had entered the business and was “attempting to gain entry to a closed part of the business with a screwdriver when he was interrupted by an employee.” The officers arrested and booked Langdon on charges of trespassing but released him after three hours due to Los Angeles’s “zero-dollar” bail order.

Just before 7 p.m., Glendale police responded to a call about a burglary at an apartment building. Residents told the officers that they had arrived home to find “their door ajar, several items displaced within the apartment, and could hear a male’s voice yelling inside of the unit.” As the officers arrived on the scene, they saw Langdon walking down a hallway, the statement said. Langdon reportedly ran back to the apartment and locked himself inside. While officers initially attempted to negotiate and convince Langdon to leave, they then entered the apartment forcibly and arrested and booked him on charges of burglary and felony vandalism, police said. Langdon caused an estimated $6,000 in property damage to the apartment and to the apartment complex, Glendale police said.
