House intel chairman blames old Obama officials for leaks

The chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on Thursday blamed Obama administration officials who still work in the government for the leaks that have plagued the Trump administration.

“I think most of this is probably from people who were in the old administration, but there still could be some people that have burrowed in and are providing classified information to the media,” said Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., on Fox News.

President Trump has been frustrated by leaks involving conversations between his former national security adviser, Mike Flynn, and the Russian ambassador to the U.S. That leak forced Flynn to leave his job this week.

But transcripts of calls between Trump and the leaders of Mexico and Australia have also leaked out.

Trump this week managed to energize Republicans toward investigating who is leaking the information. Thursday morning, Trump promised to catch the “low-life leakers,” but in the meantime, Nunes said the leaks are “unacceptable.”

“This is a state here that’s falling apart, and it’s totally unacceptable for anyone in government to be doing this,” he said.
