President Trump praised his longtime confidant Roger Stone for his insistence he would not betray Trump in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.
Stone vowed Sunday he would never testify against the president, days after former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to Congress about a Moscow real estate deal he pursued on Trump’s behalf during the 2016 campaign.
“There’s no circumstance under which I would testify against the president, because I’d have to bear false witness against him,” Stone told ABC “This Week.” “I’d have to make things up, and I’m not going to do that.”
In a tweet lauding Stone, Trump referred to Mueller as “a rogue and out of control prosecutor,” claiming Mueller is trying to force witnesses in the investigation to make up stories that would incriminate the president.
“Nice to know that some people still have ‘guts!’” Trump said.

“I will never testify against Trump.” This statement was recently made by Roger Stone, essentially stating that he will not be forced by a rogue and out of control prosecutor to make up lies and stories about “President Trump.” Nice to know that some people still have “guts!”

Trump expressed similar gratitude for his former campaign manager Paul Manafort in August, before Manafort agreed to cooperate with Mueller’s team. Trump called Manafort “a brave man” for not turning on him, as Cohen did. Last week, Manafort was accused of lying to prosecutors after striking a plea deal.
