Rep. Trey Gowdy, R- S.C., offered the president some advice Sunday morning following his early morning tweetstorm in which he criticized special counsel Robert Mueller and his investigative team: If you’re innocent, act like it.
“My advice to the president is the same thing I just told his lawyer. Give Bob Mueller the time, the independence … and the resources to do his job,” Gowdy told “Fox News Sunday.”
“If the allegations are colluding with the Russians and there’s no evidence of that and you are innocent of that, act like it.”
Trump ripped Mueller’s investigative team Sunday questioning their political allegiances and ability to remain unbiased in their investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election
“Why does the Mueller team have 13 hardened Democrats, some big Crooked Hillary supporters, and Zero Republicans? Another Dem recently added…does anyone think this is fair? And yet, there is NO COLLUSION!” Trump tweeted.
Gowdy is also a top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, which ended their investigation last week after they found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia to influence the 2016 election.
