Einstein High School locked down after knife fight

A lunchroom fight at Einstein High School in Kensington turned into a school lockdown Monday after a 16-year-old student pulled out a knife, Montgomery County police said. The lockdown was lifted after the student was found in his Rockville home and arrested. This is the second time in recent months the school has been sealed after weapons were found. In April, several students were arrested for bringing an arsenal of guns and knives to the school. At that time, one of the students fired a gun in a boys bathroom while trying to sell the weapon to another student. – Freeman Klopott

Car with explosives found outside Andrews AFB

Prince George’s County police found explosives in an abandoned car outside of Andrews Air Force Base yesterday morning. The police department, with the fire department and the Air Force’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal agency, responded to a 6:45 a.m. call reporting a black Nissan Altima without license plates with what appeared to explosives in the 6200 block of Dower House Road in Upper Marlboro. The car, which was stolen, contained explosives but lacked a detonator, police said. Three bomb technicians took about three hours to safely remove the materials. No suspects have been named, and the investigation is continuing.
