Dana Loesch: CNN calls gun owners ‘child murderers’

National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch confronted a CNN host Friday when asked to defend her comments that the media “loves mass shootings,” and said the network regularly maligns her and other gun owners.

Appearing on “New Day,” CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota said Loesch was “wrong on every single level” when she made those “malicious” claims that media outlets want mass shootings because they’re good for ratings on Thursday at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Camerota said the opposite was true, claiming that shootings were not “ratings gold” because a lot of people become saturated by the coverage and turn off the television.

“I hope they have,” Loesch said. “I need to interject, though Alisyn. You’re saying that it’s malicious, yet on your network you’ve allowed accusations against me and millions of law-abiding Americans to be indicted as child murderers. I’ve watched you Alisyn, on your program.”

Camerota asked Loesch why she felt she had to use “inflammatory rhetoric” when talking about media outlets’ intentions by covering a mass shooting like the one in Parkland, Fla., last week.

“Because it’s true,” Loesch said.

The CNN morning show host also accused the NRA and Loesch of wanting to talk about everything else other than guns when it comes to gun violence.

“We always do [talk about it], in fact,” Loesch said. “I mean, we have Eddie Eagle programs, we have the School Shield program wherein schools have been encouraged to adopt steps to keep them safer and to make sure that children feel safe. We trained law enforcement officers, no other organization has trained more law enforcement officers across the country than the NRA.”
