MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Middle Tennessee State University’s Jennings A. Jones College of Business has entered an exclusive partnership with Dale Carnegie Training to help students develop “soft skills” such as communication and problem solving.
The university says the training will be incorporated into the curriculum, meaning all graduate and undergraduate students in the Jones College will take such a course for credit before obtaining their degrees.
MTSU President Sidney McPhee mentioned the initiative during a panel discussion Wednesday in Nashville on preparing college graduates for the workforce.
The university said faculty members will become certified Dale Carnegie instructors, who will then teach business students. The first courses are expected to be offered next spring.
The classes will teach effective personal interaction, stress management, persuasive communication, problem solving, leadership and positive attitude formation.
