A baby deer that had been rescued by Montgomery County police last week has died, officials said. Police responding to a report of an injured dear Wednesday found the animal lying in the parking lot of the Oak Mill apartment complex in Germantown. The baby deer appeared to be in distress, and Officer Dawn Wenner wrapped the animal in a blanket and made arrangements to transport it to Second Chance Wildlife Center in Gaithersburg.
Officials on Monday said the baby deer, which was about one or two weeks old, succumbed to its injuries. It had likely been abandoned by its mother in or near the parking lot, wildlife center officials told police.
