Richard McFeely, a former FBI official, has withdrawn is name from consideration to be President Trump’s pick to be FBI director, according to a report Saturday.
ABC7 News reported the story, citing sources close to the decision-making process.
McFeely was one of four finalists in the running to replace former FBI Director James Comey, who was fired by President Trump earlier this month.
Also interviewed in the past week were former Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, the 2000 Democratic nominee for vice president who is now an independent, former Oklahoma Gov. Frank Keating and acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe.
