GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a Galveston man for years fraudulently collected more than $385,000 in retirement benefits intended for a person who died in 2003.

The U.S. attorney’s office said Monday that 64-year-old John Stephen Davis is charged with theft of federal government benefits. Authorities say he collected checks issued by the Social Security Administration and the Office of Personnel Management.
