Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren said she attended President Trump’s inauguration because she “wanted it burned in my eyes.”
The progressive Democrat explained her rationale for attending the Jan. 20 event during an appearance on Bill Maher’s HBO show “Real Time.”
“I went to Trump’s inauguration,” Warren said. “I watched. I wanted to see it. I wanted it burned in my eyes.”
Warren was speaking about her new book and galvanizing progressive support to ensure the U.S. isn’t run by the rich and powerful. Her reference to the inauguration she used as an anecdote that inspired her to keep up the fight.
She said it was the “next day when the world changed,” referring to massive Women’s March on Washington, which was spurred in large part due to discontent with Trump and his past disparaging comments about women.
That was “the day we made our voices heard,” she added.
