The majority of Democratic voters believe Stormy Daniels and her affair with President Trump is not an important issue, despite the daily coverage of it over the past three months, according to a Quinnipiac poll released Tuesday afternoon.
The April 6-9 survey found that while 85 percent of registered Democrats think Trump had an extramarital affair with the adult film star in 2006, 51 percent of the party does not believe it matters.
Among Independents, 79 percent said the affair and nondisclosure agreement were not critical issues.
Only 6 percent of Republicans, 19 percent of Independents, and 44 percent of Democrats said the affair was important. All told, around one-in-four of all voters, 23 percent, said the issue is of importance.
However, Democrats are in clear unity over the issue of whether Trump knew about his personal attorney Michael Cohen’s $130,000 payment to Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford.
Nearly three-quarters said finding out the truth to that particular issue is important compared to 38 percent of Republicans.
The poll was conducted by landline and cell phone with 1,181 voters nationwide and had a 3.4 percentage point margin of error.
