LINDENHURST, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a 10-year-old boy is gravely injured after being hit by a car while crossing a Long Island road.

The Suffolk County Police department said John Johnson was hospitalized in critical condition with a head injury Sunday after the crash Saturday night. It happened around 8:30 p.m. in Lindenhurst, where he lives.
