The House Energy and Commerce Committee said it will consider a bill to extend funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program next week.

Congress is expected to miss the Sept. 30 deadline to reauthorize the bipartisan program. However, a congressional advisory board predicts states won’t run out of CHIP funds until December at the earliest.
