Fashion designer and film director Tom Ford said in an interview that President Trump’s election win made him feel more “nationalistic” and helped inspire him to return to living in the U.S.
Ford told Women’s Wear Daily that unlike other celebrities who had expressed a desire to move away due to Trump’s presidency, he felt the opposite and decided to move from London to Los Angeles in the coming months.
“We have a tremendous number of people in this country who feel disenfranchised and clearly we are not relating to or speaking to them,” the “Nocturnal Animals” director said. “I am at my core American, and it made me want to come back. It didn’t make me want to run away.”
He added, “It made me feel more nationalistic, if anything. The whole country is not like New York and L.A. and the world that I am used to living in.”
