An 18-year-old Crofton woman was recovering Sunday after a pickup truck struck her and a friend while they crossed Route 3 in Anne Arundel County.
Alexandra Singer and Kristen Meske, also 18, walked across the northbound lanes of Robert Crain Highway in Crofton at about 11 p.m. Friday when a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup hit them, police said.
The women were airlifted to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where Meske died early Saturday morning, police said.
Singer was awake Sunday and accepting visitors, though her condition remained critical, hospital officials said.
The driver, Lucas Coldrion, 17, also of Crofton, was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, nor was he speeding at the time of the collision, police said.
