Female bank robber sought

The FBI is investigating a robbery of a bank near Penn Quarter, and authorities are asking the public to help identify the female uspect.

At about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a woman walked into the Independence Bank at 1006 E Street NW, and demanded money. She took an undetermined amount of cash and ran, authorities said.

The suspect was described as a white female, about 5-foot-6, 145 pounds and 40 years old. She was wearing a white National Mall T-shirt and khaki pants, and carrying a white canvas bag.

FBI officials said the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call Special Agent John Dunham of the FBI Washington Field Office at (202) 278-2000.
