Senate delays DeVos confirmation vote

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Friday said it is pushing back the confirmation vote for President Trump’s education secretary nominee Betsy DeVos from Jan. 24 to Jan. 31, according to multiple reports.

The billionaire businesswoman appeared before the committee on Tuesday and was given a shakedown by Democrats, as well as some Republicans. Afterward, DeVos shook hands with some of the senators who had questioned her, but Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., refused to shake her hand.

The Senate Commerce Committee had to postpone DeVos’ hearing after she failed to meet her paperwork deadline.
