Rains leave behind widespread Chicago-area floods

BURBANK, Ill. (AP) — At least two school districts called off classes after up to 5 ½ inches of rain fell in parts of Chicago’s southwest suburbs. Basements and yards were flooded, forcing some people to get around in row boats and kayaks.

The suburb of Burbank was particularly hard-hit overnight Thursday and into Friday. Burbank School District 111 called off classes Friday. Reavis Township High School closed for the day, too.
