A watchdog group that has already received a court’s blessing to interview several of Hillary Clinton’s top aides has asked a judge to allow an interview with the former secretary of state herself.
Judicial Watch, a conservative nonprofit that is presently in the midst of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the State Department, filed a motion in federal court Monday proposing an deposition with Clinton now that the presiding judge has allowed discovery in the case to proceed.
The interview would focus on why the Democratic front-runner set up a private email server on which to conduct her government communications, according to court documents.
The group also proposed detailed interviews with familiar faces from Clinton’s network, including Cheryl Mills, her former chief of staff, and Huma Abedin, a current member of her campaign team.
A judge granted discovery in the FOIA case in order to find out whether the State Department had put forth a sufficient effort to locate records related to Clinton’s diplomatic tenure.
