BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is pushing legislation to give cities and towns more control over the number of liquor licenses in their communities.

Currently, the number of licenses allowed in a city or town is capped by a formula based partly on the local population numbers. For each additional license above that cap, municipalities must get legislative approval.
