NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a man they believe was driving a minivan that fatally struck a 12-year-old girl and critically injured two others has been arrested.
Police say Robert Decarlo turned himself into a Brooklyn precinct Thursday afternoon. He was arrested on manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal accident and other charges.
They say the 26-year-old Brooklyn man fled after he struck the three as they walked on the sidewalk Wednesday afternoon.
Police identified the 12-year-old girl as Joey Sellers.
A 9-year-old girl and a 38-year-old woman were listed in critical condition at Kings County Hospital.
Police say the 2005 Dodge Caravan had been reported stolen Friday in another part of Brooklyn. They say a preliminary investigation showed the driver lost control before jumping the curb.
