Alexandria deputy sheriff honored for heroism

Alexandria Deputy Sheriff Bryant Vaughn was awarded the Medal of Heroism Award by the George Washington Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Vaughn was recognized for his efforts in investigating a burglary while he was off duty in December 2009. The burglary suspects fired at Vaughn while he was investigating suspicious activity at a neighbor’s home, but he avoided injury.

The Sons of the American Revolution presented the award to Vaughn at a cermony on Saturday, where they also presented Sheriff Dana Lawhorne with the Law Enforcement Commendation Medal.
