The Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act, which simply “prohibit[s] the National Labor Relations Board from ordering any employer to close, relocate, or transfer employment under any circumstance,” passed the House of Representatives today, 238-186. Eight Democrats voted for the bill, including seven Blue Dogs, and seven Republicans voted against it. (Conn Carroll points out these Republicans had significant union backing.)

The bill, authored by South Carolina Republican Tim Scott, was a direct response to the NLRB’s interference in Boeing’s decision to move a manufacturing plant from Washington state to South Carolina, a right-to-work state. The bill is likely to die in the Democratic Senate.
