Hulu to develop alternative Hillary Clinton history series Rodham

Imagine a world in which Hillary Clinton never married former President Bill Clinton.

According to a Wednesday report from Variety, Hulu optioned the rights to produce such a world based on the alternative history book Rodham, written by Curtis Sittenfeld.

The show’s scheduled executive producer and writer is Sarah Treem, who wrote scripts for Netflix’s hit series House of Cards and Showtime drama The Affair. Warren Littlefield, the executive producer of The Handmaid’s Tale, will co-executive produce the series through the Littlefield Company. Fox 21 Television Studios will produce the show.

The book Rodham was released in May of this year and made its mark on the New York Times bestseller list.

Earlier this spring, Hulu released a documentary series, titled Hillary, to detail the life of the former U.S. senator, secretary of state, and Democratic presidential nominee. It provided an inside look at her activities during the 2016 campaign cycle and revealed her emotional state amid previous controversies, including the Monica Lewinsky scandal during her husband’s tenure as president.
