EAGLE, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a 42-year-old woman has died after an accident involving a group of friends driving Jeeps off-road on private land in western New York.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the town of Eagle, about 35 miles southeast of Buffalo. Friends had brought Sherrie Green of Kenmore to the roadside and told deputies she was breathing but unresponsive.

Green later died after being taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Investigators say Green and friends had been “mudding” on private property when one of three Jeeps got stuck in mud. Deputies believe Green was accidentally hit while helping to free the vehicle.
